60s Drinks cabinet, very retro!

Look at this beauty! a drinks cabinet from the 1960s, I absolutely love this! Lovely condition really,   just needs some repairs to the veneer and the back board, some atention to the inside and of course a new paint job! there is a glass shelf that goes across the botom section as well.

So I took the backboard off and the drop down front and began the prep,

Looking forward to painting this, hopefully the weather will stay fine and I can get going in the next few days.

Finished dressing table

here's the dressing table I posted a picture of last week, looking smart in it's new colours

after a thorough sanding I painted it in a couple of coats primer and two coats of emulsion (latex). Thought the blue would make a change.

Then it was lightly distressed by sanding by hand

The top was sanded back then given three coats of acrylic varnish and waxed. Then I gave the paintwork two coats of wax, I love the finish it gives, didn't realise you could wax over paint and get such a lovely finish!

I've been really inspired by all the great items I've seen in the blogs so hopefully I'll be able to paint many more in the future, can't wait for the next one!

30s dressing table

Next up is a 1930s dressing table picked up at auction, here it is stripped and ready for action!
